Welcome again, I am here today with a special tree known for a whole range of usage- medicine to #insect #deterrent to simply something which encroaches on other plants’ #habitat- yes, we will be talking about Neem tree scientific name- Azadirachta indica. Trust me every plant has its own #germination process, soil requirements, how to procure seeds, when and how much to water……and this video will talk about all these things so please make sure you stay with me through the #entirety of this video because you skip and you might miss something important. Let us begin now…….. Procuring seeds- Get them early, when they are all green or about to turn yellow, the ones which have fallen to the ground would give you less encouraging results. Separate the seeds from the branch and then let them sit in the #sun for 2 days. This is done to #sterilize the seeds to avoid the rot later right before the scheduled germination. Peel of the #brown outer #skin or #pulp if you may Avoid #scarring the seed and get rid of whatever part of outer skin you can. Now #immerse them in #water for about 2 hours Prepare small pots - 50% Garden soil + 30% Sand + 20% Cocopeat Let these pots sit in the shade until the true leaves are all out and water every alternate day without a fail in the evenings. And if you can manage whenever you are starting seed or a cutting let them be surrounded by other plants/ pots because one- plants love socializing in their own way; two it will help the pots/ plants to retain moisture for longer periods Now the part where we kind of let the young plants suffer and I am not trying to scare you but its a fact that some ill practices push them towards death. Yes, that’s right, one of those processes is transplanting and it alone can decide how the plant would be in the future. So here is a little trick I picked up while bringing these videos to you. Watch closely, here transplantation is done without exposing the roots at all. Once the neem tree sapling is as high as the pot you can remove the bottom cover and simply place it on top of a bigger pot and we are good for another year or so and after that, you know what you have to do…. Time for another trick here, water only the bigger pot so that roots grow relatively at a faster rate. If you water the top pot too roots will not grow deeper in lesser time. Hope you get the drift here. Now its time to introduce the neem tree to the sun and water the pots once a week. If you wish to plant more than one seed per pot, you can do that. It’s better than joining 2 or more saplings later- it’s easier and more beneficial and doesn't affect the health of the plants as much! I think every home should have a neem tree- reasons, there are so many of them- this tree helps keep mosquitoes and flies away, releases more oxygen, leaves, bark or stem can be used to scare away insects inside the house so all in all Neem tree can’t be missing from any garden- easy to care and comes with so many benefits.
