10 Plants in 1 Container | What Plants To Combine & How | Add Charm & Save On Area-Water-Fertilizer #PlantJungle

1 कंटेनर में 10 पौधे | क्या करने के लिए पौधे और कैसे | क्षेत्र-जल-उर्वरक पर आकर्षण और बचत जोड़ें Hey Plant Lover, how you doing?? I am sure each one of you is enjoying the new normal and busy with some new-found gardening tricks! Welcome to another exciting video and before we get into it, let me ask- can you grow more than one plant in the same pot? 6 months ago and If I were you, I would have said yes, you can but you shouldn’t. And as we will see in the video-in fact, multiple houseplants in one container add some extra charm to a garden. The key is to combine companion houseplants that suit one another. You are still not sure, well, I can understand your reservations- no worries, just stay with me through this video and let us find out together how sustainable the idea is. I am using a 20 inches pot, that’s equivalent to 50 liters in volume. Soil Mix- Pretty standard- 70% Garden Soil; 20% Sand (river sand preferred); 10% either Cow Dung Manure or Neem Fertilizer or Compost. You can have an exact size or a smaller pot, depending on what plants you are getting into it. I have got a Bougainvillea already in there and now will add some climbers, shrubs, herbs, and trees. The idea is to get together some plants with similar light, water, and soil requirements. So when you see me planting a particular plant- if you don’t have the same one, you can easily find another one of a similar size and that would be an appropriate replacement. Plant 1 (Shrub)- I inserted a Purple Heart (Tradescantia pallida) plant cutting in there. Plant 2 (Tree)- I grew some Neem (Azadirachta indica) trees from seeds and here I am planting them in the pot together with others. By the way, this tree releases oxygen as a by-product 24 hours. Plant 3 (Shrub)- We are getting one of the Crassulas in. The mini jade as we know it. Plant 4 (Shrub)- We have Mexican Petunia (Ruellia simplex) also called Mexican Bluebell plant. Again, I am growing it using a cutting. Plant 5 (Grass)- Now comes the most important plant, the grass, just get a grass strand from your garden or outside, why it’s the most important plant in this pot or any other pot for that matter because this would be our Teller if there is anything wrong with the water, soil or sunlight, this would be the first plant to exhibit signs and we can easily fix them before things go out of hand. In fact, I keep at least one or two strands of wild grass in most of the pot, just for this one unique quality. Plant 6 (Herb)- This is Cinnamon Basil, a perfect plant to combine with other plants, grows aggressively and helps other plants too by keeping the soil acid content in check Plant 7 (Tree/ Shrub)- Lemon tree goes in now Plant 8 (Tree)- Mango tree grown in a separate container until now, will become a part of this combination pot This is how our pot looks like now, I would get in a couple of more plants within the next few days as I see some empty space. I am getting goat’s foot vine ready- propagating it in water. Water immediately and keep the pot in shade for a week; watering it every other day and then go back to watering it once in 10 days. You should be aware- this pot would require far too less water and fertilizer than other similar sized pots with a single plant. That’s why you got to have one of these on your balcony or garden. If you haven’t noticed, the leaves on all the plants look greener and healthier, a great sign. Plant 9 (Climber/ Vine)- Goat’s foot vine is ready to be included in our plant jungle. This is where we are after 30 days, every plant/ tree/ climber looks in great shape. Have a check at the grass, it has gone crazy as far as growth is concerned and that’s a sign which tells us all things are in place as far as this pot is concerned. The Bougainvillea has flowered in bunches, and the growth is quite perfect. When you are looking at this, would you not want to replicate this set up in your garden or home, of course, you would! I cannot believe, 50 days, and plants are flowering such beautifully, bougainvillea, cinnamon basil, purple heart. And the grass has grown out of control here, and this brings us to the next step in this project- pruning. Let us get on with the pruning then. Remove all unwanted growth on all the plants, especially the grass, it might hamper the light reaching smaller plants. Cut off the flowers on basil so that it continues to grow more leaves and branches instead of seeds. Also, you might notice that some of the plants in this pot haven’t grown that big, that’s alright, plants have different strategies- some grow taller above the soil and some stay busy growing roots for the first few months. I will also tie these Bougainvillea branches together so that wind doesn’t cause any damage and also to bring all the flower bunches together in one line for a perfect sighting.
