The ‘NO EFFORT’ propagation of Jatropha integerrima #जत्रोफा #Peregrina #SpicyJatropha #DubaiBalconyGarden #GauravChhikaraGarden #DubaiGardenAdventure #DXBGardenDiaries #GauravChhikaraGardeners #GCG Hey Plant Lover, welcome once again, how have you been, hope your plant skills are doing a great service to the plant kingdom day in and day out. Well, that’s the best we can do as humans, so congratulations to you. Now that you are here, let us dive into this video that would talk about ‘no effort’ propagation of shrubs. We will discuss the propagation of Jatropha integerrima otherwise known as Spicy Jatropha because of the bright red flowers. Please note something important here, whenever you are watching plant videos- I would suggest that you take notes of small things and then can very well apply on other similar plants. So I am sure we can come to an agreement that things we pick up from the propagation of a certain type of plant we can replicate the same techniques on other plants too, though results might differ, the variations won’t be stark and that’s a pretty good deal. Alright, so if you haven't already subscribed, please hit that subscribe button. Well, let us begin today’s video……… Get your Jatropha cuttings from a plant that is at least 2 years old. The cuttings should be as long as your forearm and have a brown bark not green and not even brownish-green. Obviously, the top part of each cutting would be young and hence green, that’s fine. Now remove leaves from the bottom part, so that at least 4-6 internodes are naked. No need to scrap the bottom of the cuttings, simply put them in water, place the set up on a windowsill where a couple of hours of indirect sunlight is available. After 8 days, we have small white bumps all across the lower part of the cuttings, that's the initiation of root formation, so we are on the right track As days, go by, all you have to do is keep removing the dead leaves, flowers, if there are any, even get rid of the cuttings which fail to keep up with the propagation process. Day 13, we have one of the cuttings going crazy developing roots. This is a great sign, now other cuttings will also follow the suit and develop roots at a similar rate. Day 27, and we have a good result, roots structure looks great on all the cuttings. When the roots in water grow to a length of 1-2 inches, you can decide to transplant your cuttings. Avoid, starting the repotting process too early or even too late, both the scenarios, the plant might not take it too well and die. It’s about time that we repot these cuttings in soil. They have been in the water for 35 days. While the cuttings were busy adding new roots, they even continued with the flowering. Soil Mix- Initially I am using normal garden soil so that roots find it easy to grow at a faster rate. And then after 6 months, I will bring in some sand when shifting them to a bigger pot or the ground. And that’s a wrap, I hope you enjoyed the video and if you did, please don’t forget to like and leave a comment. If at all, there is anything you want to clarify or discuss, please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section. Thank you for your time and I wish you great energy to propagate some plants and yes, raise more than you can take care of so that you can give some away to your friends and neighbors. I will be back soon, until then, stay safe, stay healthy!!
